What a magical evening we had on February 3rd at the Zunfthaus zur Meisen in Zurich! Our 60th Diamond Jubilee Gala Dinner & Ceilidh wasn't just an event; it was a heartwarming celebration of connection and elegance that kicked off our 2024 alumni events in style.

A massive shoutout to all of you who joined us and made the night unforgettable. Your energy and smiles were what made it so special. It truly was a pleasure to celebrate alongside our amazing Strathclyde alumni community.

Big thanks to my co-host, Professor Peter McKiernan, the talented piper David Ramsay, and the lively Liam Smith Ceilidh Band for making the evening such a hit. And, of course, we couldn't have done it without the generous support of the University of Strathclyde and ELARIS AG, who helped bring our grand celebration to life.

We also want to shine a light on the incredible talent of Roman Schubert, whose photography played a pivotal role in making our event unforgettable.

As we look back on a night filled with joy, we're excited to invite all our alumni to stay tuned for what's next. Your involvement is what makes these events so special and unforgettable.

Thanks again to everyone who contributed to making our gala a night to remember. We can't wait to see you at our future events and make even more memories together.

Since the withdrawal of the Swiss Centre at Zurich Airport from the Strathclyde MBA program, the EXCO has been searching for a new address for our bank and EXCO meetings.

Today, the SAAS EXCO are delighted to announce the support of Protaminex AG who will host our Association at their office in the Bahnhofstrasse, Zürich. This is a tremendous offer and we would dearly like to thank Reto Hosig for this support . Reto presently serves on the EXCO and is one of our graduates from the Swiss MBA program.

July 12 marked the re-launch of SMAAS annual BBQ event. This year the Alumni Association hosted an all-white themed party at a familiar location, right on the shores of the picturesque lake of Zurich.

With Leeanne in the lead, the rower’s club was tastefully decorated to match the party theme. White table linens, lanterns and the bar area welcomed guests and added charm to the club’s lido area. Reto and Leeanne gave introductory remarks, wishing everyone a splendid time.

As the guests started to arrive, it became evident that event’s strict all white dress code was observed almost religiously. Old friends and new faces - SMAAS members and current Executive MBA students intermingled - dressed in all-white. There were, however some exceptions. A couple of SMAAS members decided to break the strict all-white policy for purely technical reasons.

A few words need to be said about food and drinks - both were exceptional. The wine selection was superb and sourced from Zug’s Weber-Vonesch. Sancerres, Chablis, Chardonnays and Barolos filled the glasses of joyful attendees. Inspiring, wine-enthused conversations carried well into the darkness of the night.

To match the wine, a well-rounded selection of starters, meats and vegetarian options were available at the White Party. Hiltl vegetarian delicacies and a selection of six different meat cuts/marinades from Hünenberg’s Limacher metzgerei were followed up by an incredible selection of desserts from Zug’s Bachman Confiserie.

With the darkness slowly settling in, the White Party came to a close. All attendees seemed to have enjoyed themselves to the fullest. To sum up, this year’s SMAAS BBQ party was filled with great conversations, networking opportunities and delicious food and wine.

If you have made it this far, you'll have noticed that we have a new website. What you can't see is that it is connected directly to our new membership management system (MMS) or back-office.

After much discussion, we settled on a product called Wild Apricot, which has 15,000+ users around the world, and is generally considered to be the leader among small associations and charities. What attracted us most was the combination of website management, membership management, email management and event management all in one package, and at much less money than we were paying with MemberClicks.

We'll be reminding you to update your profile, and this will give you the chance to upload a much more recent photo of yourself! You'll also be able to pay your membership subs by credit or debit card.

    Hope you like it.
